My name is Louise Stewart. I am the creator of Heads High ~ a bespoke wigs and stylish hat service for cancer patients. I carry out all work on the wigs to ensure quality remains at a high standard and that everyone receives a friendly and personal service!
Let me tell you why I created Heads High wigs:
In 2010, I was a 'happy hairdresser' who loved life with my family: husband Grant and our four children (Jak, Billy, Madison and Alfie) but on the 10th of April, that all changed...
My world fell apart when my daughter Maddie, aged just 7 years old, was diagnosed with ALL Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. After endless stays in hospital and a grueling treatment regime, Maddie's prognosis was looking good (much to our relief!)
Unfortunately, it was the side effects of chemotherapy that starting taking its toll and Maddie began losing her hair, devastating for anyone to go through, child or adult!
The hospital provided us with a wig from a local charity but we struggled to find one that would fit a petite little girl and not make her look like a grown up!
Maddie also really struggled to wear her wig as it was just so itchy, was hot, and kept slipping when she was playing (not to mention it looked very 'wiggy!')
The final straw came when she was playing in the park and her wig came off. I was determined to make an alternative for her so that she would be comfortable and confident again.
I designed the cap liner with hair...
Maddie loved wearing hats, so I started by attaching hair to the hats she loved because they looked so natural (and were super comfy!)
Once Maddie had finished her treatment, I then decided to help other people in the same situation, and created Heads High.
I love my new job. It gives me the greatest satisfaction when I receive feed back from my customers telling me how much my wigs have helped them regain their confidence - helped them retain THEIR identity!
Heads High bespoke wigs are now available for adults and children and come in three different sizes, with a wide range of stylish hats.
Wishing you all the best.
