My Name Is NOT Cancer

Bubble of Peace

Megan Fletcher reading paper

The coolness surrounds me

Envelopes me

Calms me

Nothing can reach me

In my little bubble of peace.

Voices wash around me

Lights fade and dim

Yet all is sharp and clear

Time slows,

In my little bubble of peace.

And wonderment

For all that is alive

Fills me,

In my little bubble of peace.

Whilst I stand and stare

I see you

Staring back at me

In your own little bubble of peace.

I can't believe my eyes

Someone lik eme in this world

This world surrounding me

Outside me,

In my little bubble of peace.

I blink, and you are gone,

Swept away in the tide

Of all other emotions and people,

but maybe

One day

We might meet again

in our

Little bubbles of peace.

I hope for that day,

In this,

My little bubble of peace.

About Bubble of Peace

Throughout Megan's life journey, she felt it important to find calm even in the most anxious situations! This inner quality was to serve her well when faced with cancer, the rigours of treatment, and keeping her sense of self.

She wrote Bubble of Peace whilst waiting for another scan, in a busy waiting room, full of people all waiting for scans too. No one was talking and yet they acknowledged familiar faces with a nod, a smile, a recognition that they were all in the fight together!

Megan retained her own style, her identity,
throughout her journey with cancer
